All about us The Swiss Institute for Empirical Economic Research is linking scientific research and economic policy consultancy. The Institute is led and managed by the Directors and Professors Monika Bütler, Michael Lechner und Winfried Koeniger. The main activities at the Institute are scientific research and economic policy advice. The strategic success of the Institute lies in conducting intensive basic research which provides the foundation for consulting of governments and private organisations. The research and teaching activities focus on the following themes: Economic policy (in alphabetic order) Labor economics Health economics Consumption and household finances Macroeconomics Political economy Social and family policies (Social) Insurance Sports economics For our economic policy analyses we use econometric methods, quantitative methods for simulations and computations based on general equilibrium models. Methoden Microeconometrics Machine Learning Numerical methods with applications in dynamic programming In our teaching of the methods (in the bachelor, master and PhD programs), we put great emphasis on the practical application so that about a third of the courses takes place in the PC labs.
