The main activities at the Institute are scientific research and economic policy advice. The strategic success of the Institute lies in conducting intensive basic research which provides the foundation for consulting of governments and private organisations.
The research and teaching activities focus on the following themes:
Economic policy (in alphabetic order)
- Labor economics
- Consumption and household finances
- Macroeconomics
- Social and family policies
- Sports economics
For our economic policy analyses we use econometric methods, quantitative methods for simulations and computations based on general equilibrium models.
Methoden
- Microeconometrics
- Machine Learning
- Numerical methods with applications in dynamic programming
In our teaching of the methods (in the bachelor, master and PhD programs), we put great emphasis on the practical application so that about a third of the courses takes place in the PC labs.
